Business name : Bedford Basin Yacht Club

“I’ve been sailing at the Bedford Basin Yacht Club since I was 10 years old. I’ve come up through the program and have raced at BBYC. I race 420’s and J/24s, and last year I did a few races with some of the other coaches on the J/24. I have been down to Shelbourne for the Albacore Nationals, and had fun sailing those boats!

I volunteered coaching for a year, and this will be my second year as a coach here. Last year I taught Intro Opti, and Intro 420. I also taught Adult Learn to Sail on dinghies and keelboats. This year I am looking forward to coaching the Intro 420 group, as well as Adults again. I am also looking forward to doing some more racing this summer! My favourite thing about sailing is great friendships and strong winds.”

“My name is Jonathan Earle and I will be the 420 Race Coach this summer. I have sailed since I was 9 years old. I spent my summers at my cottage north of Toronto where I learned to sail and have sailed my entire life. I grew up racing 29er’s and 420’s in Ontario at the Lake of Bays Sailing Club and then began coaching. This will be my 7th summer teaching sailing and I have been a 420 and 29er race coach for 4 years now.

What I love most about sailing is just being able to have fun out on the water everyday while being able to compete at the same time. I look forward to a great summer at BBYC and teaching on the east coast for the first time!”
