The Cowes-Torquay propelled seaward powerboat hustling as a game in Britain in 1961. At first supported by the Daily Express daily paper, its prosperity energized a few nations in Europe and the Middle East to take action accordingly.

Consequently it can rightly claim to have acquainted seaward powerboat hustling with whatever remains of the world outside the United States where the advanced game was propelled with the first Miami-Nassau Race in 1956.
