Established in 1931 to encourage the sport of yachting, to foster seamanship and navigation, and to provide and maintain a suitable clubhouse and moorage facilities for the use and recreation of its members.

A historic maritime city located in central Vancouver Island, Nanaimo is closely associated with the sea. The Nanaimo Yacht Club is an integral part of this community, with approximately 750 members who enjoy benefits such as a modern clubhouse and first rate moorage. By volunteering for administrative and maintenance positions, the members have achieved a 1st class facility and very attractive rates.

The Nanaimo Yacht Club is clearly indicated on the Nanaimo Harbour chart at the south end of Newcastle Channel and just north west of the main anchorage.

Applications for membership are being accepted from anyone who has attained the age of 19, who resides in the area defined as School District 68 or School District 69; who followed the prescribed procedure, paid the prescribed fees and has been accepted for membership by the Executive Committee.

Associate memberships now available per the following criteria.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER – a person who has attained the full age of 19 years, who has followed the prescribed procedure and has been accepted by the Executive committee. An Associate member shall not vote, hold office, chair any committee, have moorage, or acquire Seniority with respect to moorage, and shall have not interest in any property of the Club. They shall be entitled to attend all General Meetings and enjoy all other facilities and functions of the Club, with the exception of Reciprocal clubs and outstations. An Associate Member may fly the club burgee and may apply for Regular membership upon request, and payment of the appropriate fees.
