The City of Page is one of the youngest communities in the United States. It is located in northeastern Arizona, approximately five hours north of Phoenix and five hours east of Las Vegas. The town began in 1957 as a housing camp for workers building the Glen Canyon Dam. In 1958, some 24 square miles of Navajo land were exchanged for a larger tract in Utah, and “Government Camp” (later called Page in honor of Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner John C. […]
OSOYOOS comes from the native phrase ‘Sooyoos’ (‘suius’ from Salish which means ‘narrows of the lake’). there’s a tale that a Minister with the aid of the name of O’Reilly positioned the ‘o’ in front of ‘Sooyoos’ to harmonise with different nearby metropolis names, whilst others have said that the ‘o’ might have been an ‘expression of the surroundings by using a white man’. The local tongue spoken by most natives changed into Salish in addition to their own language. […]

A Member Run Sailing Club Founded in 1928 as a private member run club which emphasized sailing above all other amenities, Buccaneer remains devoted towards pursuing these same goals. Even today we are probably one of the few yacht clubs which operates all their facilities and functions without a single employee. We are in many ways a true club, where members collectively decide on the goals and policies of the club, then work together as a single unit to carry […]

Mobile Yacht Club members are proud of our club’s long and oftentimes colorful history. Established in 1847, Mobile Yacht Club is the 2nd oldest private boating and sailing club in the United States and the oldest club on the Gulf Coast. Throughout its long and distinguished history the club has been known as Mobile Regatta Club, Eastern Shore Yacht Club and Mobile Yacht Club.
