Bartley Sailing Club is situated on Bartley Reservoir in the south-western outskirts of Birmingham. Close to the M42 and M5 we have 120 acres of clean water and generally excellent wind conditions. The Reservoir at Bartley Green, Birmingham was built around 1900. The water in Bartley runs entirely by gravity from the Elan Valley in Wales. The origins of Blithfield Sailing Club can be traced back to a meeting in Rugeley on Wednesday 15th February, 1967. This meeting had been called to form a group to negotiate for permission to sail at Blithfield. Club activities range from social events to national race meetings with competitors travelling from all over the country. Und aus der Taufe gehoben wurde er nicht dort, wo er schon wenige Wochen später seinen Sitz haben würde, am Nordende des Starnberger Sees, sondern in einem kleinen Seepavillon in der Tutzinger Bucht.
