Der DUYC ist der mitgliederstärkste Segelverein in Duisburg und Leistungszentrum des Segler-Verbandes NRW. Unter seinem Dach sind nicht nur sportlich ambitionierte Regattasegler zu Hause, sondern auch Fahrtensegler, die es auf dem Wasser eher gemütlicher angehen lassen. Der Duisburger Yacht-Club engagiert sich in der Jugendarbeit und bei der Ausbildung. Babbacombe Corinthian Sailing Club was founded on Saturday 22nd June The Club’s headquarters were established in an old fisherman’s hut on Oddicombe Beach, the stone walls of which now form the bottom storey of the present Club House. The first Talk and Social for the year featured an introduction to Scuba Diving given by Brian Mansell from the Chelmsford Sub Aqua Club, ably helped by Friday Graham and Brian. Chelmarsh Sailing Club was established in 1965 when the South Staffordshire Waterworks Company acquired its new reservoir, covering an area of approximately 100 acres. The reservoir had been built to ensure an adequate supply of water for Wolverhampton and areas around Dudley in the West Midlands could be maintained but its owners had the foresight to consider the reservoir might also make a suitable venue for the sailing of dinghies.
