he British Virgin Islands Yacht Club was officially formed on 25 July 1973 with 76 members. The first Commodore was Peter Wright with the following committee members: Tudor Williams (Vice Commodore), Norma Riegels (Secretary), John Green (Treasurer), Gary Turpin (Sailing Secretary) and Val Steinberg (House Member). From 1956 to 1958, the original nucleus of the Club–Hal and Betty Jane Daugherty, Gaines Houston, Bill Graham and others–were launching their home-built Y-Flyers and Lightnings at Lake Norrell and at Brady Mountain Marina on Lake Ouachita, where they raced on and informal and difficult basis. Founded in 1997, the Kenai Crewsers Rowing Club is the oldest rowing club in Alaska. We are located on the eastern side of the Kenai Peninsula in south-central Alaska. Rowing season runs from April through October with the primary row sites being Bear Lake in Seward, and Kenai Lake in Cooper Landing. An annual regatta is held on Bear Lake.
