Salt Spring Island Power and Sail Squadron is a member of the Vancouver Island South District of Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons and was founded in 1972 by a group of people dedicated to the promotion of safe boating. With the exception of a few permanent employees in the National Headquarters, all other activities and Power Squadron functions are carried out by volunteers.
Courses:
Various courses in navigation, boat handling & operation, VHF Radio, weather and boat maintenance are offered by the Salt Spring Squadron.

Qualifications:
Qualifications available through the Power and Sail Squadrons include Pleasure Craft Operators Cards (PCOC) and VHF Radio Operators Certificate – RROC(M).
Membership:
Membership in the Squadron requires the successful completion of the Boating Course. Advantages of membership include discounts for boat insurance and some goods and services, access to advanced courses, participation in Squadron activities, and the Sounder Newsletter.
