Installation of new flag officers was held at The Oceanside Harbor Jolly Rogers Restaurant and after a lovely meal, swearing in took place. Small Boat Racer Awards went to Bud Nelson in Nomads and Tom and Glenda Gardner’s in the Capris. On behalf of all of our IOBG members we welcomed our newest member, Jr. SC Luis Arce. We now have a total of 15 IOBG members in our club. IOBG Raffle Basket was won by Floyce Royer and proceeds went into funds for club.
SMYC held its Kick off dinner at Dominic’s at the Harbor and after a lovely family style Italian meal a short meeting lead by Commodore Gary Hall discussing future calendar events took place.
Several members enjoyed a trip to San Diego by Coaster to go on the U.S.S. Midway Museum Tour.

Thanks to Doris Wiedemann and Nancy Bordier a group of enthusiastic ladies met for the first BINGO of 2014 and tried their very best to take home some much appreciated prizes.
Spring Dana Point Cruise ended up at Dana Point West Yacht Club with good food and lively company. The First annual brewery event for SMYC was at Mother Earth Brewery with friends, pets and lots of jovial discussion. It has become a tradition for SMYC to St Patrick’s at O’Sullivan’s and it was truly a great evening.
SMYC Opening Day was a high success and our own Junior Staff Commodore Luis Arce put together a great Opening Day Ceremony, with the Marine Band and Color Guard. There was a lot of food and drink for much merriment. Awards for SMYC were given to Race Participant Sue Rodriguez, Cruisers Lee and Carol Nielsen, Yachtsperson Edelgard Rieder, and Youth Awards to the Sjolund Brothers.
